Police looking for suspect for Albert Street Murder
Albert Street in downtown Belize City was the scene of a ruthless murder on Wednesday afternoon and tonight the gunman that shot twenty-three year old Michael Garbutt is still on the run. The merciless killing was witnessed by Garbutt’s aunt who is visiting from the United States. She was waiting for him in a nearby vehicle. His family is still shaken by the incident, but reports are that Garbutt had just finished smoking a cigarette and he was walking towards the vehicle when he was ambushed from the rear. The killer managed to escape, but Acting Police Press officer, Raphael Martinez, told News Five that they are looking for a known suspect.
Raphael Martinez, Acting Police Press Officer
“Yesterday about two-thirty in the afternoon, police visited Albert Street in the vicinity of Dee Dee’s restaurant where they saw the lifeless body of Michael James Garbutt, twenty-three years of age of a T-Street Address in Belize City, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head. Initial investigations revealed that Michael was just about to enter into a vehicle when he was approached from behind by a dark skinned male who fired one shot hitting him in the head. Reportedly, this same dark skinned male then stood over him and fired two more shots. So in total, he had three shots to the head. The body is now at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and awaits a post mortem. Police are looking for one individual pending this investigation.”

“Any idea as to the motive as yet?”
Raphael Martinez
“That has not been determined as yet.”
Garbutt was living abroad but was deported from Los Angeles in June 2011.
AND….Where is THE REST OF THE STORY?????
Belize city is the Prime Minister’s back yard, and he seems unfazed by the number of criminal acts that are occuring literally under his nose. I’m sure the the economy is taking a hit for this due to the residual effects, hence causeing the people to suffer even more. There needs to be a total revamp of the penalties for some of these crimes, so that criminal elements can get the message that there is a new sheriff is in town, for example, hard labour, dismissal of concurrent sentencing and the death penalty, because some people needs to be put to death for their actions.
