Conch Season closing 2 months early
The Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Sustainable Development confirms today that the conch season will close early this year. According to the ministry, a ten day grace period is being granted to fishermen and cooperatives for the delivery of conch up until next week Monday. Thereafter, the season officially closes on Tuesday until September thirtieth. The early closure is necessary because the queen conch is listed as an endangered species and the seasonal conch quota has been met.
