Channel 5 to air fashion show featuring a Belizean
Mission Catwalk; it’s the fashion designer reality series that is taking the Caribbean by storm. Designers from the islands of Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Belize and Guyana are competing for the opportunity to show at London Fashion Week 2012 and other prizes worth three million Jamaican dollars or some seventy thousand Belize dollars. Since the show started Belizean designer, Rebecca Stirm of Roaring Creek has been making a name for herself from week to week with top designs. She has so far won two challenges, placed first runner up in another and in the latest episode, she earned top marks from judges with a design inspired by Victoria “Posh” Beckham. This challenge was won by Jamaican designer, Gregory Williams who designed a Nicki Minaj inspired piece. In this challenge the designers were put in groups of three to design a garment for one of four fashion icons, including Michelle Obama and Lady Saw. After negotiations, we can report that Channel Five will begin airing the series in the next few days so stay tuned for the schedule.
Go Belize. Nuff love n Respect Rebecca.
Am glad to hear. I’ve been wondering if our media houses were waiting for her to win before fully embracing her participation.
I’ve been following the show on youtube and am very proud of her and the other Belizean participant; who unfortunately was eliminated from the first episode..but not for lack of talent but more for differences in principles.
GO REBECCA & BELIZE. Thanks CHANNEL FIVE; for sharing this positive experience with the nation. We need not be responsive only to criminal activity.
