Cops seek Honduran for stabbing in Independence
An Independence villager is hospitalized tonight, following a stabbing in that southern community late Saturday. According to family members, around eleven-thirty that night, twenty-two year old Baudillo Vargas was riding his bicycle near the cemetery when he was struck in the back with a machete. Vargas fell and was hit again in the forehead and the lower abdomen. The victim was rushed to the local health centre and then transferred to Southern Regional Hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition. Police investigations into the incident have identified the prime suspect as “Chelo,” a Honduran living in the village, but up to news time tonight, the alleged attacker had yet to be detained for questioning.
