One year old drowns in bucket of water

A one year old baby is dead and Corozal police are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine whether or not they should charge the mother and uncle in her death.

According to authorities, the child’s uncle, Juvencio Chan, told them that on Saturday afternoon he was at home in San Narcisco Village when upon visiting the wash house, he discovered his niece Ynaelly Chan lying face down in a bucket of water.

Baby Chan was rushed to the Corozal hospital but it was too late. Police say they are still investigating to find out what transpired at the residence but they do know that at the time of the incident the child’s mother, twenty-nine year old Soila Chan, was reportedly at home.
