Belmopan woman wins big in Lotto draw

A Belmopan woman is seventy thousand dollars richer tonight after her numbers matched those drawn in Wednesday’s Lotto draw. Forty-two year old Elsa Middleton says she’s been a persistent buyer but she still could not believe the news when a friend told her that she had won.

“I had a dream and I picked my numbers, but that happen like two years ago and I continue buying and buying the numbers. Sometimes I get three, two, three and I said, one day it have to play. That dah the first number inna my—I buy six set of numbers, right.”

“I was at my work because at work at Cardinal as cashier right and then my friend came to me and said, “Let’s go to Belize, let’s go collect the cash, you dah the winning one.” So I said, “No I can’t believe that!” And he showed me the numbers and so I say, “I noh believe you.” But like how Cardinal start to sell Lotto, I run right next door and I check with the girl weh sell the numbers and I find out that dah my numbers.”

“First thing is pay my loans weh I have, that dah the first thing. And then the rest, I will invest it inna my son’s education because he will graduate Friday, this Friday coming and then I think he going to Canada, no I sure he going to Canada.”
