Barrow will put law practice on hold
He has come under fire from the P.U.P. for the alleged conflict between what he does as a politician and the cases he takes as a lawyer. Whether those criticisms are valid or not, Leader of the Opposition, Dean Barrow will no longer have to deal with them. A release from the United Democratic Party indicates that Barrow is leaving the practice of law to focus on his political activities. According to the release, he will appear in court only to complete cases already set down for trial, including that of the A.C.B. against the Government of Belize. Other than those, the party leader will no longer work in the legal profession. However, like many politicians who are also lawyers, including the Prime Minister, it is assumed that his law firm, operated by other attorneys, will continue to take on clients without restriction.
