Robbery suspect pleads guilty in court
A young Belize City man has pled guilty to the armed robbery of a Cemetery Road restaurant. According to court reports, this afternoon seventeen year old Julian Willoughby and eighteen year old Kareem Arnold appeared before Magistrate Roberto Ordonez on a charge of robbery. But before the matter could proceed, Willoughby told Ordonez that he was responsible for the crime and that Arnold should be released. The judge then asked the accused if the statement was in fact a guilty plea and Willoughby agreed. Arnold pled not guilty. The matter has been adjourned until the third of May. Both men were arrested after the proprietor of Janel’s Restaurant reported that on Wednesday afternoon two men walked into the building armed with a gun and demanded money. The robbers then escaped with nine hundred and fifty dollars in cash.
