Belmopan City Council donates to fire victims

And while the Living Hope School in Belize City raises funds to get back on its feet, a family in Belmopan is rebounding with help from that city’s council. On the night of April sixteenth the home of the Chun family in the Las Flores neighbourhood burned to the ground, leaving them virtually destitute. Today Mayor Simeon Lopez presented the victims with a cheque for a thousand dollars to help provide short term relief. For the longer run, the council has committed to lay the foundation for a new concrete house on the site and urges all residents of Belmopan and elsewhere to assist the effort by contributing cash, household items, or building materials.
