Bailey won’t get bail for Attempted Murder
A Raccoon Street resident has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred two months ago. Forty-one year old Larry Sutherland was shot on April twenty-first and the suspected gunman is twenty year old Devon Bailey, who appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer this morning. Bailey was charged with Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Maim upon Sutherland. He was also charged with an additional count of Attempted Murder against Shanice Stephens, who was not in the initial reports on the shooting incident. No plea was taken and Bailey was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July thirtieth. On the night of the shooting, Sutherland was with friends on Raccoon Street Extension when three gunmen on separate bicycles opened fire on the group. Sutherland was shot once on the back and the bullet exited his abdomen. Reports are that after being shot, Sutherland ran until he was assisted by a passerby who drove him to the hospital.
