The Jones’; Al and Patrick in morning shootout with police

Al Young Jones

A high speed chase through the streets of Belize City this morning has resulted in the capture of two men found in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.  The arrests were made following a brazen shootout with authorities.  At around ten a.m. police on mobile patrol in the area of Mosul Street attempted to stop a grey Toyota occupied by twenty-two year old Al Jones and nineteen year old Patrick Eric Jones when the driver quickly stepped on the gas and sped off in the direction of Vernon Street.  The vehicle was immediately pursued and the chase led police along Magazine Road and Banak Street before ending with an exchange of gunfire.  Upon coming to a stop police say that Al exited the vehicle and began firing a nine millimeter Glock pistol at them.  They returned fire and he was hit in the upper right shoulder.  He was later taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.  His accomplice, a resident of Taylor’s Alley, was subsequently apprehended.  The duo is facing multiple charges, including kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as for the shooting incident.

Attempting to murder police? They should die in jail. We’ll be safer when dangerous gangsters receive the punishment they deserve.

I wonder what crime they were on their way to commit when the police interrupted them? My guess is someone is alive today only because of the good work of the police.

    Good job, police!

  7. Al says:

Shooting at police officers who are in the process of performing their jobs should become an offense punishable with life in prison. It is time for a reform of the legal system in Belize. Punishment should fit the crime. Reform, reform is my plea to those who are in the position to make it happen.

I was a patient at the clinic and the police were the first to shoot! I was trying to get to the clinic as I had an asthma attack and I don’t know why they started to shoot while I was crossing the street. The police were the only ones shooting and if you were to check the weapon they would know… charge them for what they did

  14. Louisville,Ky says:

Only in Belize….. only in Belize!! Try that foolishness anywhere else and he’d be dead. You hear? I fault the cops on this one. Aiieee, it could have been one less scum to deal with.

  15. GINa says:

THE jones are so stupid they should have stopped & gotten charged only for illegal gun/ammo, now 1 is injured & I hope they give them 10yrs plus behind bars. Like I said before, graduates, you don’t have a job because useless PM is giving away money instead of investing it for job, GO JOIN A GANG, GET EASY MONEY.

  17. Ombudsman LA says:

He doesn’t live in Taylor’s Alley. He lives in Pregnant Alley. Most of those guys who are known criminals do. They’re known to do foolish things like this. As someone above said, thank God they were interrupted or some innocent person might be dead. That’s why I can’t blame GSU for using unorthodox methods at times. They might think people are on the side of these criminals but deep down they aren’t. Good Job indeed!

  18. Omb Assistant says:

Most of those guys are idiots who chance innocent people. The Police did a good job. I think the GSU are actually going to easy on them right now. They should up the effort at removing known criminals from off the streets for good. Hopefully they have more assistance from Gov’t and Public. Thankfully they were stopped before they killed some innocent person. There are individuals living right around them who do not stand for what they stand for. Some of them get continuous threats from these same persons, so they’re probable relieved to know they will no longer be chanced. Great Job!

  19. alley cat says:

Guns and Ammunition without license is illegal. I support the Police!!!
