Officers who foiled robbery commended by Compol
Three police officers whose quick action resulted in the apprehension of a pair of robbers earlier this month were honoured today in a short ceremony in Belize City. Corporals Lenox Broaster, Basil Reyes and Glen Caliz of the Anti-Drug Unit each received a letter of commendation and two hundred dollars cash from Police Commissioner Gerald Westby. On April second the three officers were on duty on the Northern Highway when they learned of a robbery in progress at the nearby branch of Scotiabank. The trio responded, chasing the thieves’ vehicle into the Belama Area and apprehending them after they fled on foot. Over fifty thousand dollars in US and Belizean currency, stolen from a businesswoman making a deposit at the bank, was recovered by the trio.
