Popular businessman deported to U.S. on drug charges
He was one of the busiest fast food vendors in the city, but tonight Belizean Fry Chicken owner Fred Hornby is thousands of miles away from his business, cooling his heels in an American jail. The U.S. national was picked up by members of the Crime Intelligence Unit bright and early on Monday morning and later handed over to Federal Marshals in Houston, Texas. Turns out that when Hornby took up residence on Black Orchid Street five years ago, he was out on bail for possession and sale of cocaine in Florida. He will be transferred to authorities there later this week.
In related news, another American, thirty-four year old Dusty Chandler was also deported home today on weapon and drug related charges, as well as unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Chandler was picked up by C.I.U. around ten-thirty this morning in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
