Butane prices drop by a whopping $30 per 100lb cylinder

There is some good news to report tonight that will bring major relief to the pockets of Belizeans. Effective this Friday, the retail price of butane will be reduced by a whopping thirty dollars per hundred pound cylinder. Yes you heard right… a reduction of thirty dollars. The hundred pound cylinder of butane will now be sold for one hundred and five dollars in the case of the higher quality butane, and ninety-six dollars in the case of the lower grade. The Ministry of Trade, Investment Promotion, Private Sector Development and Consumer Protection is taking the credit for the reduced prices and saying that it is timely, given the harsh economic times and the high poverty rate.  According to the ministry, given the general downward trend in the global market price for natural gas, it engaged the suppliers to pass on some of the savings to the consumers. The implementation of a new standard to be followed by butane suppliers by the end of August was also discussed with the butane suppliers.

I am happy to hear this news but be carefull who you buy butane from. I recently had to change from my regular supplier as i found out that my tank was being filled but with AIR not butane. A full tank would last me less than a week. I changed my regulator, piping, everthing, and still the problem persisted, it was not until I changed supplier that the problem went away. I am from San Pedro Town but to all Belizeans, be aware cause sometimes you are sold AIR and not butane!!!

Does anyone realize what is happening here.

    1. Check and see what we were paying couple of years ago. The price was lower than it is now while the global price was higher than it is today. So they raised the price and dropped it down to a price that is higher than it should be and I’m suppose to be happy?

    2. Some countries are currently paying anywhere from $15-$25US per 100lbs….again, I’m suppose to be happy that it went down to $100Bze? Not to mention the amount the steal by underfilling tanks (JULES GET EM!)

In 2010 for about a month gas price at the pump dropped to $4.50 a gallon of regular. Then they took it up to $11, so now when the drop it to $9 I’m suppose to be happy. No man!

    Tamales forever!
