Gunman opens fire on empty car
Shortly after two this afternoon area residents of Cairo Street and Euphrates Avenue were jogged out of their routines as a series of gunshots rang out. The police quickly arrived on the scene but all they found were expended shells.
Witnesses told News Five that it happened so quickly that it took them a while before they realised what was unfolding in their neighbourhood. Reports are that a driver of a small black car had just pulled up and parked his vehicle on the side of the street. The unidentified young man then left the car and walked over to the opposite side to talk to someone.
Shortly after, witnesses say a young man who was walking barefoot suddenly appeared at the street corner and just started firing at the vehicle. According to reports, some of the bullets punctured the car’s back windshield. The gunman quickly left the area, while the driver reappeared, jumped inside his car and sped off.
At the scene, a forensic team recovered at least seven expended shells. Police say they do not have any motive for the shooting or if the driver was the intended target.
