Banana worker killed in machete fight
Homicide detectives in the south are tonight investigating the murder of a banana worker that occurred over the weekend. According to authorities, around ten on Saturday morning, officers were notified that the body of a man had been found near the Placencia junction with the Southern Highway. Multiple chop wounds to the head and body immediately suggested foul play. Subsequent investigations have revealed that the victim is thirty-one year old Tito Caballero, a resident of Cattle Landing, Toledo. Apparently Caballero was socializing at a dance in the area, but around five that morning a quarrel broke out between the victim and a group of men. It is alleged that during the melee, the deadly injuries were inflicted with machetes. Independence police later detained five people for questioning and have recovered one of the machetes believed to have been used in the attack. Around noon today three of the detainees: fifty-one year old Rony Adonaldo Rosa, nineteen year old Jose Cecilio Cruz, and Emir Kidel Recinos were arrested and charged with Caballero’s murder.
