S.J.C. Jr. College prepares for fundraising pageant
On Saturday ten young men and women hope to raise at least two thousand dollars to support charitable causes and assist their scholarship programme at S.J.C. Junior College. The sixth form students are the contestants in this year’s Mr. and Ms. S.J.C. Pageant Explosion. According to pageant choreographer Xanthia Willacey, the event is not all about good looks.

“The objective is to try and showcase not only the different talents, but also they have different platforms that they will be showing like, Women in Society and Drug Abuse and different issues that Belize is going through, so it is not only a beauty pageant.”

“The young men are very much a part of this event?”
Xanthia Willacey
“Yes and they are one of the highlights of it because it is usually the women who go up for the beauty pageant and stuff, so the men they give it quite a touch.”
“People really enjoy the diversity because since it is a Mr. and Ms. S.J.C. Pageant you get a lot more from it and since it is sixth formers, it’s a lot of energy from it.”
The fun starts this Saturday at seven p.m. at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets are available at the booth or from students for fifteen dollars each. The contestants
vying for the title of Mr. and Ms. S.J.C. are Alex Evans, Rochelle Reneau, Vernon Moody, Stacy Smith, Carnellie Fritz, Samson Jacobs, Rahleel Elijio, Jason Apolonio, Cynthia Baird, and Melissa Coleman.
