The sequined Road March of Carnival 2012
Hours later, the Annual Carnival Road March made its way through the principal streets of the Old Capital in the sweltering heat on Saturday. While the riot of colors, characters and music was met with mixed reviews from spectators, it did produce three winners in the senior large band category. In first place was Mahogany Masqueraders, followed by Mother Nature’s Creation and Belize Jewels. The procession began on Central American Boulevard at its intersection with Caesar Ridge Road in Port Loyola at one o’clock and culminated at the BTL Park several hours later. This year’s event turned out a record number of participants and onlookers and aired live on Channel Five as the road march made its way to Newtown Barracks. Here’s a montage of the sights and sounds of Carnival 2012.

Waste of money should have been used for the po people of this country.
I disagree Rod,
It is part of our culture that unites our country and history as a whole, it ties us in with our neighbors as well. It is a grand demonstration of togetherness. Anything that unites us is never a waste. More of this spirit needs to be shares among other national activities. It is that spirit, and togetherness that we need to uplift us all, the poor, middle class, and upper class alike.
One Belize, and a culture that encourages and nurtures forward thinkers. That is my dream. It all starts by realizing what you have and what we share …. Carnival is part of our culture. Never let it die
