Not TiVO, it’s DiBO! Central Cable Vision wants you to take a pause

The suspense is finally over for subscribers of Central Cable Vision who have been feverishly anticipating today’s big reveal.  This morning, during a press conference at the Biltmore, the cable operator unveiled its latest offering to the Belizean public.  It’s the domestic iteration of TiVo, a digital video recorder that is being introduced to the broadcasting market.  DiBo, or Digital Boss, will allow viewers the ability to pause live television, as well as record movies and programs in absentia.  While the introduction of DiBo is billed as Belize’s digital revolution, CCV’s chief executive officer, Pedro Lizarraga, says it is a part of the company’s expansion in broadening CCV’s viewership.

“I’m an avid TV viewer myself and you travel, you see things, you research the technology that your country is involved in and we don’t really have to reinvent the wheel, we could see where the technology is going worldwide and I think, in looking at the criteria that we set for our company in creating a better viewing experience and putting the viewer in control of the television set we came up with this concept and we worked with the software providers to mould it for Belize.”

“What are some of the features in terms of those who would be interested in either looking it up or purchasing the DiBo?”

“DiBo will give you; you will be able to see programming seven days in advance.  You will be able to see programming information at the touch of a button.  You’ll be able to pause and record programs, including the local news I might say.  We’re putting all the major news networks on our digital spectrum so that people will be able to record the news in the evening and they won’t have to wait until ten o’clock at night to see the news.  Me, myself, I usually go to bed late because I don’t catch the 6:30 news and I have to stay up until ten o’clock.  So all these features we believe will help the Belizean TV viewer to manage their time better and to spend less time actually, in front of the TV.”

“Now, my understanding is that using DiBo it works on either a fully digital television system or an analog system.  Can you expand a bit more on that?”

“Yes.  The beauty of DiBo is that it works with any television set, analog TV, a tube TV, a digital TV without a tuner.  DiBo becomes the digital tuner for that television set, whatever set it may be.”

“Talk to us a bit about the affordability of this particular accessory.”

“DiBo will launch at a price of two hundred and ninety-five dollars for the setup box.  DiBo will give you an additional twenty-two high definition channels that will not be available to a person without DiBo, so the person with DiBo will have a total of forty high definition channels along with our other eighty-five digital channels.  So we believe it’s a bargain price for what it will bring and what it will do to the television viewing audience.”

DiBo will be available for purchase at this weekend’s expo.
