Police haul in illegal weapons countrywide

A number of illegal and firearms and ammunition are off the streets in Belize City as well as the west and south of the country. On Wednesday, a police search at an empty lot on Raccoon Street turned up a double barrel homemade shotgun with two sixteen gauge cartridges hidden in some bushes. Moving west to the Cayo District, Belmopan police were tipped off about a sixteen gauge shotgun that was found in a cohune tree in the Springfield settlement area. Also in Cayo, cops conducting a routine search operation in the Camp Six area, found three hundred tracer rounds of seven point six-two caliber ammunition. But it was a different story in Jalacte Village in the Toledo District where seven persons were detained after a search of their residence. Police found four rounds of IMG brand five point five-six ammunition and one slug. Santos, Luis and Arnoldo Moh along with Natividad Kib and three minors were all present when the search was conducted and have been detained by police pending investigations.
