Another attempted robbery in the Jewel

A Belize City young man who thought the law had forgotten him after he made attempts to rob well-known Blue Marlin Restaurant in April of this year begins to serve his first night of a five year jail term for the crime of attempted robbery.     On April eleventh, Russell James and another man, who goes by the name “Nigel” entered the popular Blue Marlin Restaurant located on Regent Street West. They held up at gunpoint Wilma Young, her father Douglas and two others. The second suspect was never arrested but when James was recognized by one of the victims, he fled the scene. Today, James pleaded guilty and was promptly sentenced to five years for attempted robbery by Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith.  James said that he was sorry and that he will never do it again but despite his remorse, the Chief Magistrate told him that he no doubt caused fear on his victims when he held them up at gunpoint.

Attempted robbery + possession of illegal firearm & ammunition = 5 yrs only? It seems the more you get charge, the less time you serve. Even the court gives discount! “Bigga & Betta discount than Courts Belize”

yes- stiffer penalties- at least he will be away cooling his head for 5 years.
