2 Haitians, ten passports and 1 Haitian without documents
Three Haitian nationals, two naturalized Belizean and another who holds a visitor’s permit, were before the courts today to answer to separate charges including unlawful possession of passports. The first to be arraigned was thirty-four year old Sillon Oriental who was charged for failing to produce a visitor’s permit. Allegations are that Oriental entered Belize through the Philip Goldson Airport on September twenty-seventh, 2012, and was granted a visitor’s permit to remain legally in Belize until February twenty-sixth, 2013. But on October eighth, he failed to produce that visitor’s permit to an Immigration Officer and so he was slapped with the charge. When he appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, Oriental explained that he had taken his passport to the Mexican Embassy and so was unable to comply with the officer’s request. Oriental pleaded guilty to the charged and was fined one thousand dollars plus five dollars for cost of court.
The other two Haitians in trouble with the law are Wilner Celeron and Dieulefils Forent. Both men are naturalized Belizean, but were allegedly found in possession of ten Haitian passports over the weekend. The men were charged for the unlawful possession of documents; however, when they appeared in court before Senior Magistrate Frazer, the charge was not read to them due to an error in the court books. As a result, the matter was adjourned to Wednesday morning when they will reappear in court to answer to the charge. Celeron and Florent remain in Immigration custody. Also found in their possession was thirteen thousand dollars in Belize currency at their home on Tibruce Street in the Saint Martin De Porres Area. They were fined five thousand dollars by the Income Tax Department which was paid. Florent and Celeron have been living in Belize for over four years.
Two Haitian-Belizean are arrested for possessing passports, but the criminal charges were postponed because of a court error.
Income Tax Department fined them $5k for what? having Belizean money?
Was this a tax indictment that happened before they were arrested with the ten Haitian passports?

Everything and everybody is for sale in this country now and only a minority of belizeans seem to
accept it.
Hon. Melvin Hulse has to stand up and take responsibility for the chaos and criminality in the department he runs.
Yet another passport and ilegal problem, and to date I have not heard from the minister responsible or the PM. Their silence is saying so much, I don’t know what to do; I don’t care; or no problem, go ahead and sell as many passports as you can. Some one in this office is making a lot of money, a hasty five cents over the safety of the country.
A background check should be done on the two naturalized citiens, I know it is after the fact, but if they are criminals in Haiti, revoke there naturalization and ship the home, they are not Belize’s problem. If you begin to take strong measures, so many of these people would not come calling on Belize’s doorsteps.
This country is not able to take care of it’s own people, but we are letting in more outsiders, go figure. A country with no rules is soon to be in big trouble.
