Media Association posts reward in Hulse murder
A reward has been posted to help find the killer of Richard Hulse. The sum of five thousand dollars has been offered by the Belize Independent Media Association along with a thousand dollars from Crimestoppers, who will also facilitate the confidential payment of the funds.
Hulse, a freelance court reporter who has worked for most of Belize City’s media houses over the course of his career, was murdered late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning at his home on Richard’s Sidewalk. Police, who as yet have no solid leads in the case, report that he had been stabbed between forty and fifty times. The members of the newly formed Belize Independent Media Association are the Amandala and Reporter newspapers; radio stations KREM, Love, Estereo Amor, and More F.M.; and television stations Channel Five, Channel Seven, and KREM T.V.
The organisation seeks to promote press freedom, increased access to information and public education on media issues. Viewers with any information on the murder are urged to call Crimestoppers at 0-800-922-8477. The six thousand dollar reward will be paid upon the arrest and charging of the suspect. The identity of the tipster will remain anonymous.
