CITCO to discuss head tax proposal at Saturday meeting
Three days after Cabinet proposed to pay the Belize City Council one U.S. dollar from the seven dollar cruise passenger head tax, the municipal body has yet to announce whether or not it has accepted the terms of the deal. Tonight we understand that on Saturday Mayor Zenaida Moya and her councilors will meet with executives of the United Democratic Party in Belize City before issuing a statement on the issue. The U.S. dollar would be paid jointly by the Belize Tourism Board, the Protected Areas Conservation Trust, and the Fort Street Tourism Village into the Belize City Development Fund and would be administered by the Ministry of Local Government.
