Victims of fire receive supplies

Since being left homeless, in the wake of an overnight fire on Sunday, four families, including fifteen minors, have been seeking assistance from the general public in piecing their lives together. The kindness of a number of residents and businesses, following the ordeal, cannot be understated, as donations of cash and provisions keep pouring in.  On Wednesday afternoon, a Chinese businessman, who asked to remain anonymous, contributed hundreds of dollars in groceries and personal supplies to five families, including Michael and Leticia Watler.  The Watlers were burnt out of their elevated wooden home on Central American Boulevard less than twelve hours after a massive fire destroyed several homes on Moya Street in the Lake Independence area.  Late Wednesday evening, area representative Mark King also visited the fire victims, offering them much needed relief.  News Five also understands that pre-school students from Shepherd’s Academy in Belmopan have gathered a collection of items to be distributed among the families on Friday.
