Smoked turkey for Thanksgiving? Tourist smoked marijuana instead

John Webster

A nineteen year old student from Tampa, Florida missed his cruise ship that sailed to Mexico where he was to spend thanksgiving with his family today. It’s because on Wednesday, John Webster, who arrived in Belize on a cruise ship named Dawn, was caught with weed and a smoking pipe while boarding a boat at the Tourist Village. Webster appeared in court this morning and pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a pipe and possession of a controlled drug. In mitigation, he told the court that he was sorry for his actions and for disgracing Belize. Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer imposed a fine of one thousand, six hundred dollars, which Webster’s father had to pay. They also missed the rest of the family vacation and flew back to Florida this morning, while his mother and sister were in Mexico.

  9. Storm says:

We do have more important things for our police to pursue, at the same time, I expect tourists to obey our laws, as I do when I travel abroad.

But here’s something that should be considered: WHY NOT REQUIRE ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS TO TAKE ANNUAL DRUG TESTS?

  12. moses says:

SEATTLE – In two weeks, adults in this state will no longer be arrested or incarcerated for something that nearly 30 million Americans did last year. For the first time since prohibition began 75 years ago, recreational marijuana use will be legal; the misery-inducing crusade to lock up thousands of ordinary people has at last been seen, by a majority of voters in this state and in Colorado, for what it is: a monumental failure(ny times)

Belize 75% of our population smoke weed and we pick on tourist while McAfee make a fool of us. Put your energy in catching murderers not tourist smoking pot.

  13. Juste says:

Daaaaam Shame!!! Why dont they go find Some of those killers off the street & arrest them?

  14. Jesus Christ says:

IT is a shame because in the old days people were only sent to prison or killed for real reasons like murder, rape, etc… If they legalize Alcohol and tobacco i dont see what the problem is. Its true that the marijuana can affect humans but it can Also help the world much more if scientists get to study it more. Plus there may be a chance of less murder and other crime in belize because of everyone getting more access to this substance and trust me they will get tired of smoking marijuana because it will only be a normal thing just like smoking a cigarette.. people might just use it for the first few days if it is legalized.
