Roaring Creek teen is latest murder victim

And while some members of the Belize Police Department are busy spreading Christmas cheer, other colleagues are busy investigating crimes. In the Cayo district, homicide detectives are looking for two teenagers accused of murder. According to investigators, around eight thirty on Thursday night, sixteen year old Elriquez Orellano was walking in Roaring Creek village when two other young men walked up to him and started a fight. The dispute turned deadly when one of Orellano’s attackers pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest. The victim was rushed to the Belmopan Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Up to news time tonight, the two suspects had yet to be detained. As for a motive, police say all three young men were involved in a previous misunderstanding.
