Islander stabbed and self-discharges from hospital

A San Pedro businessman was the victim of a stabbing incident on Ambergris Caye last Friday night. Edwin Henry was reportedly attacked by four men while he stood on Sea Grape Drive, not far from his home. Henry struggled with the assailants and was injured in the process, but according to Police Press Officer, Raphael Martinez, the victim knows the man who stabbed him.

“On the twenty-eighth of December at approximately seven-fifty-eight p.m., Edwin Henry, twenty-nine year old businessman of San Pedro, he visited the San Pedro Police Station with what appears to be stab wounds to the left side of the abdomen. He was taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. The initial investigations revealed that Henry was standing on Sea Grape Drive when he was apparently attacked by four men who inflicted—one of whom inflicted the stab wound to him. Police are looking for four men and one person in particular who Henry had mentioned stabbed. However, these people are still at large regarding this latest stabbing incident in San Pedro.”

The person identified by Henry is known to him as Burger Opu. Our newsroom checked with the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and was informed that Henry had self-discharged from the hospital.
