Injured suspect arraigned for murder of teen

Story PictureOne week after police shot him in the left ankle, twenty-four year old Leonard Myers, a.k.a. “Ghost,” was released from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and taken straight over to Magistrate’s Court. Myers, unassisted by the police, managed to hop his way up the steps and into the holding cell area where he waited to be arraigned. Myers eventually appeared before magistrate Dorothy Flowers where he was read the charge of murder for the death of fourteen year old Rodney Conorquie. Myers was also charged with two counts of Attempted Murder for allegedly shooting at police officers Gerald Smith and John Myvette. He was additionally charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault against the cops. Myers reportedly fired shots at the law enforcement officers after the police tried to catch him following Conorquie’s homicide. Police report that around six that Wednesday evening, Myers, in the company of two other armed men, went to a residence on Magazine Road with the intent to kill a rival but instead the hail of bullets caught Conorquie, an innocent bystander who was visiting in the yard. Two other gunmen remain at large. Myers has been remanded to Hattieville Prison until January eighteenth.
