Grandma and grandson detained for firearm/ammo
Twenty-nine year old Jamil Flowers was initially detained on Friday along with his grandmother, seventy-six year old Olive Dawson of Biscayne Village. They were both charged in connection with a point two-twenty-three rifle and four live rounds of ammunition discovered in their home during a police search. But only Flowers was charged today. Dawson was released after her attorney made a request to the top ranks of the Police Department claiming she had no knowledge of the weapon that was found. Flowers pleaded not guilty to Keeping an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition, but could not be offered bail because it is a firearm related offense. He has been remanded to prison until September seventeenth when he returns to court.
