Tourism promotion offers free hotel stays

To jumpstart the tourism season, hoteliers from across Belize made an unusual offer: they gave away free four day stays at their establishments to anyone who registered online at the Belize Tourism Industry Association website. All participants had to do was pay airfare to the Phillip Goldson International Airport and pre-book the hotel of their choice. Eighty people took advantage of the programme and since Sunday have been enjoying the wonders of Belize. But as an extra bonus, this afternoon a special raffle was held at Atlantic Bank International in which one lucky tourist was also awarded a thousand U.S. dollars account. According to organizer Judy duPlooy, the initiative was a resounding success.
