New school dedicated at Red Bank

Story PictureTwo hundred and eighty boys and girls of Red Bank village are studying in sturdier surroundings starting this month, thanks to the completion of a new school building. The structure, built at a cost of more than two hundred thousand dollars, consists of three classrooms, an office, and two bathrooms. The project also includes furniture which was handed over to school officials during official opening ceremonies on Thursday. The building was constructed to double as a hurricane shelter for the residents of Red Bank and surrounding villages. Financing came from the Government of Belize using funds from the Caribbean Development Bank and construction was managed by the Basic Needs Trust Fund. Contractor was Karl Garbutt and Associates of Roaring Creek, while the furniture was supplied by Charles Selgado of Punta Gorda.
