One dead in Toledo traffic accident
A traffic accident in the Toledo district has left a man dead and four family members seriously injured. According to Punta Gorda police, around two-thirty Sunday afternoon a Toyota pickup, driven by fifty-two year old Ignacio Avila, went out of control and ran off the road near the Golden Stream Bridge. The truck wound up on the north side of the highway and came to a stop in an orange grove. Concerned motorists transported Avila and his four injured passengers to the hospital, but one man was pronounced dead on arrival. Family members of the victims tell News Five the deceased is Julius Oh of Santa Cruz village. Avila, twenty-two year old Theodoro Oh, his brother nineteen year old Heraldo Oh, and their uncle twenty-five year old John Oh, all of Belmopan, were admitted to the Punta Gorda hospital for treatment. Investigators tell News Five that since the accident, the survivors have drifted in and out of consciousness and have been unable to give a statement as to what led to the mishap. We understand that the Ohs, all residents of the San Martin area of the nation’s capital, were travelling to Silver Creek village to pick up Heraldo’s wife to take her back to Belmopan.
