Trio charged for trying to steal boat engine
Last Tuesday night, three men were found in the compound of the Port of Belize near an engine that had already been removed from a boat. This morning, nineteen year old Robert Flowers, of Belize City along with two minors, ages sixteen and seventeen appeared before Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith to answer to a single charge of Attempted Theft. The incident occurred late Tuesday night at the Port of Belize where the security guard on making his routine checks, noticed that a boat engine was hoisted from a skiff belonging to the port and a tool box was found next to the engine. The security guard also surprised Flowers and two minors, one seventeen and the other sixteen years old, hiding under the bow of the skiff. The trio did not have authorization to be on the compound and were detained by the security guard until the police arrived. In court the three pleaded not guilty to the charge and were offered bail of five hundred dollars. The trio was able to meet bail and will be back in court on April twelfth, 2013.
