Same highway, Sunset Park resident hacked to death
The lifeless body of fifty-six year old Jose Nemencio Guido Campo, a naturalized Belizean of a Sunset Park address, was discovered by his son on Saturday morning, several hours after the duo last saw each other on the George Price Highway. According to Luis Campo, they were heading home from Cotton Tree Village around six o’clock on Friday evening when upon reaching mile nine the pickup they were traveling in broke down. Realizing the distance from where the vehicle stalled, his father decided to take a shortcut to their residence. When Jose failed to return home by eleven forty-five that night his son, along with his brother and common law wife, set out in search of him. What they encountered was a trail of blood through a footpath which led to his mortally wounded father. Jose had been chopped multiple times to various parts of the body, including his lower mandible and right palm. His left arm had also been severed. Rural Executive Officer, Assistant Superintendent Christopher Noble spoke briefly on the ongoing police investigation.
ASP Christopher Noble, Rural Executive Officer
“We did find Mr. Campo with multiple injuries, apparent chop wounds. He was deceased on the scene and the injuries severe enough to have even decapitated parts. We have spoken to persons in the area. We did find and speak to persons that located the body, who incidentally were family members. So we have been coordinating with them since the event and we are looking into avenues where they have informed us of what happened.”
Jose’s body now awaits a post mortem examination at the K.H.M.H.
