Ruta Maya canoe race across western Belize to Belize City
The annual Ruta Maya canoe race is hours away from beginning. Tonight in San Ignacio, the participants and Cayo residents are feasting at a cultural event. The race will start under the Hawkesworth Bridge and the competitors will paddle to Banana Bank, Double Head Cabbage, then to Henderson’s Bank in Burrell Boom, and on to the finish line at the Belcan Bridge in Belize City on Monday.
