Belize City man convicted of child rape
A Belize City man has been found guilty of rape. According to court reports, this morning forty-eight year old Edward Negron, accused of sexually assaulting a female relative was convicted of the crime by a jury of his peers. Justice Michelle Arana has set sentencing for November ninth. Negron was arrested and charged with rape after the twelve year old victim reported that on October second 2005, she was attacked in her bed. Because of the nature of the crime and the age of the victim, the trial was held en camera. Negron was undefended while Tracey Sosa prosecuted the case.
