Man charged for the attempted murder of 4 cops
This morning, twenty-seven year old Brandon Smith, a resident of Port Loyola Area of Belize City was escorted in hand cuffs to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court to face Attempted Murder charges. He appeared before Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith where he was read four offenses of Attempted Murder upon four police officers, namely, PC Abner Pasqual, PC Mark Tzul, PC Terry Reyes and PC Wayne Trapp. Smith asked the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith to allow him to spend his full three months on remand in full before he is brought back to court and Chief Magistrate Smith agreed. Smith is due back in court on May seventh 2013. On Saturday at about twelve thirty am. while police were processing the murder scene of Leon Humes, a car drove up suddenly at the corner of Poinsettia and Black Orchid Streets. The vehicle was immediately pursued by police but the car ran into a nearby drain where Smith is alleged to have exited the vehicle with a gun and fired shots at the police. The police returned fire at the vehicle and the driver, twenty-eight year old Alrick Smith, was shot in the abdomen. Smith made good his escape but was later captured while the getaway vehicle was impounded by police and now sits at the Queen Street Police Station. Alrick remains under police guard at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
