Corozal killers sentenced to life behind bars

Three men have been sentenced for their involvement in a murder in Corozal. In the court of Justice Troadio Gonzales, Sharim Baizar received a life sentence for Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Giovanni Villanueva was sentenced to life for Murder, while Javier Villanueva will serve fifteen years for Abetment to Commit Murder. The victim, Wilfredo Baizar, was shot to death at his home in Corozal on July nineteenth, 2003. He had recently been awarded a three hundred and fifty thousand dollar settlement for the loss of his leg in an accident and the inheritance of this money was apparently the motive for the killing. Sharim is the victim’s son, while the Villanuevas are his brothers-in-law. The victim’s wife, Thomasita Villanueva, was originally charged with murder but the charges were eventually dropped.
