2 charged for Chan Chen/Patchakan murder

The naked body of Israel Matu was found on March twenty third in cane field off the Chan Chen/Patchakan road. The tell tale signs of murder included a swollen left eye and a cut wound to the right ear. According to reports, Matu was socializing at a bar in Chan Chen Village and left for home at about ten p.m. He never arrived.  According to Superintendent Andrew Ramirez, the Officer in Charge of the Corozal Police Formation, after following several leads, the department has charged thirty-five year old Venancio Williams and thirty-three year old Arturo Keme, both of Chan Chen Village with Matu’s murder.

“I had personally visited scene on Sunday evening where I saw the male individual nude. He had an injury to left eye, apparently bulged. It made me to believe that he was hit. The investigation continued and it showed that he was at a bar in Chan Chen on Friday night; ten-thirty thereabouts. So within ten-thirty to Sunday afternoon when we received information of a person in a cane field—that is where we are with the investigation. We have two person in custody that have been charged for murder. On the scene, it shows indication that the victim basically was kicking on the ground until he lost his life.”

Contrary to several reports, Matu was not socializing with the men now charged for his murder
