Black gold found in Orange Walk, but drilling not done in reserve
Government says that oil has been found by Maranco Energy Belize Limited at their South Canal Bank number one exploration well in the Orange Walk District. Marranco’s concession includes more than three hundred and eighty-seven thousand acres in the Orange Walk District. Program for Belize assures the public that drilling is not taking place within the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area.

From the map shown, it appears that their concession does include protected land — why are there ANY concessions on land that is supposedly set aside for preservation, instead of exploitation?

If you don’t know anything about the oil industry you should really keep your damn mouths shut!!! There are more damages done by slash and burning than oil drilling
