Dean Dawson Jr. charged for Matura murder

Dean Dawson

It made the headlines on February fifteenth, when Good Samaritan Wallace Donald Matura was shot multiple times in Belize City while trying to intervene when somebody was harassing a child. Against all odds, Matura survived the initial assault, but succumbed to complications arising from his injuries nearly six weeks, on March twenty-seventh. Police say that have the man who ruthlessly gunned down Matura, and today twenty-two year old laborer, Dean Dawson Jr., appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith and was read a single count of murder. Dawson was unrepresented in court. No plea was taken since the matter is an indictable one, and Dawson was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June eleventh. Reports are that on the day of the murder Matura was at the corner of Orange Street and East Canal in Belize City when he tried to stop an older man from harassing a female child. The man left the scene and returned with another man, and that is when a barrage of gunshots rang out, leaving Matura badly wounded and grazing two passersby. Matura was laid to rest on April second.

    By my count this is the third time this vermin has been charged with murder. Maybe he’s killed more and not been arrested.

    One way or another, he needs to die for the security of the nation, the sooner the better. Plain as that.

  7. Seletar says:

    @Truth, God judges them at the Gates of Heaven, but we get to judge them here. If we didn’t there would be anarchy and life on Earth would be hellish. I’m with the rest who favor executing this garbage, the sooner the better.

  8. Al says:

    @the truth, even the bible tells us that we are to b subject to the law of the land, now if God did not want that so he would not have said so in this scripture. The word in the Bible says that we are to be obedient to civil authority: 1 Peter 2:13-16 (KJV) :
    13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

    Just in case you don’t know what civil authority is it is the law. Certainly God knows all things and yes he will judge at some future time, there are things that we as a people must do right now in this time. Bringing justice to those who break the law is the right of the lawmakers. You are a foolish person, you speak of God what you don’ know. This is not a matter of judgement, it is a matter of evil being the primary thing in the country and those who are wanting good is in the minority.

    You talk about God, why don’t you pray and ask God to move against these evil doers, then get a better understanding of the word of God, so that it will actually do you some good, instead of you talking trash.

  10. Storm says:

    @Truth, I’m with @Seletar.

    If you can’t face evil and JUDGE AND CONDEMN it, how can you be moral?

    Through life we are in a constant battle of good against evil, and we need to choose sides, and fight for our side. Which side are you on?

  11. lisa says:

    why is belize not implementing the death penalty, we need it.
