Taxi driver arrested for molesting 10 yr. old

A Belize City man is tonight behind bars, accused of sexually molesting a ten year old girl. According to court reports, forty-nine year old Hilberto Perez appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord this morning and pled guilty to one count of Aggravated Assault against a minor and a second count of Harm. Perez was arrested and charged with the crimes after the victim’s mother reported to police that on Tuesday, her child told her that on September twenty-second, she was changing her clothes when Perez entered her room and began to touch her. The girl further alleges that Perez then put his mouth on her bare chest. The mother says after her daughter told her what had happened, she confronted Perez, asking him if he had touched the girl. Perez reportedly went into a rage and punched the woman in the face. In court, police prosecutor Clinton Magdaleno objected to bail and Lord has remanded the accused to Hattieville Prison until October sixteenth.
