D.P.P. withdraws charges against two murder suspects
Two men accused of murder and one charged with attempted murder, are free men tonight after the charges against them were withdrawn. Arthur Young, accused of the August 2002 murder of Jose Chavarria, Ronlee Petillo charged with the January 2006 murder of Dennis “Ticky” Gladden and Arden Smith Robinson, remanded for the attempted murder of Mervin Underwood and others in March 2005, were allowed to leave the court today after representatives of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions entered a motion of nolle prosequi in all three cases. We understand that the D.P.P. made the decisions after witnesses involved in the incidents could either not be located or changed their minds about testifying. However, it is clear that should new evidence in either matter come to the attention of the Crown, the charges can be reinstated against the accused.
