Shopkeeper gets 5 years for carnal knowledge

Arden Allan Middleton

Five years in jail. That’s the sentence given to the thirty eight year old man who was convicted of having sex with a fourteen year old minor. The incident occurred in July, 2011.  The girl claimed that she was at a shop called Little Wilts Place which is located by the Cumberbatch Field in the Caesar Ridge Road area.   That is where Arden Allan Middleton, the shopkeeper, took the child into a room and had sex with her. She told the story to her mother who eventually confronted the shopkeeper. The mother said that Middleton offered to pay the girl’s school fees if she did not report the incident. However, a doctor certified the girl was carnally known.  In the Supreme Court, Justice Troadio Gonzalez heard a mitigation plea on his behalf.  Reverend Clifford Barry White asked the court for leniency because residents in the area have expressed that they missed the well-liked shopkeeper who also participates in sports.  The reverend also said that Middleton is the sole provider for his family. Middleton’s attorney, Bryan Neal, also pointed out that it is his client’s first sexual offense. According to the law, the minimum jail term for carnal knowledge of a girl above the age of fourteen but below the age of sixteen is five years or a maximum extended of ten years.  Justice Gonzalez told the convicted prisoner, “It appears that there is some good in you.” Middleton has indicated that he will appeal the case.

  2. Gabester says:

  3. Name Witheld says:

For the rotten so call reverend and pastors and preachers and fatha/father (catholic priests) having sex with minors is as normal as breathing or taking a bath, they are all perverted they should be whip with a Cat-O-Nine or Tambran Tamarin whip!!!!

  4. Storm says:

I agree with all the comments before mine, and I would like to add my frequent suggestion: MANDATORY CASTRATION should be part of the punishment for ALL convicted sexual predators.

That’s a punishment that fits the crime!

  5. Bear says:

“This is his first SEXUAL offense,” said his lawyer. What about the rest of his criminal record?

He was a proud member of the Southside Gang, here is what he said about it in an interview 15 years ago: “Just check our record, get all of our names from this South Side Crew and check our record, we never yet have been convicted for no gang related crime, no robbery, no, no burglary, no drug trafficking, nothing like that.”

  6. Evette says:

As usual the male gender narrative continues to bias male punishment. ” He is active in sports” translates into a good male role model in the community. “He is the sole provider” equals the head of family, good man to his family, if he goes to jail his family will be destitute. And the Reverend vouched for him, what irony!
We all know that the first time a person is caught does not mean the firs time the act was committed. I shall has not be surprised that he had lured other young girls in a similar manner.
