Couple charged for 6 pounds of marijuana
A boyfriend and girlfriend caught with drugs were charged jointly today after a search of their home yielded six pounds of marijuana. The police anti-drug unit made the discovery at around eleven-thirty on Tuesday. Today in court, twenty-two year old Marion Parks and thirty-five year old Rutherford Zelaya each faced one count of Drug Trafficking. Although the weed was found in one of their bedrooms and was parceled off in approximately forty packages ready for sale, the couple pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Tracy Sosa granted them bail of five thousand dollars plus two sureties of two thousand, five hundred dollars each with probationary conditions. Parks and Zelaya made bail by four this evening and are to return to court on September twenty-fourth.
