Sex charges withdrawn against cop
It was a scandal that left a black eye on the police department when back in April, three of its officers were arrested and charged for having sex with a minor. But tonight one of those men is celebrating after the charges against him were dropped. This morning in the courtroom of Magistrate Dorothy Flowers, Jeremiah Usher was informed that due to a memo from the D.P.P.’s office withdrawing the two counts of carnal knowledge and one count of attempted suppression of criminal evidence, he was free to leave. No cause was given for the withdrawal. With this latest development, Usher can now be reinstated to his post as Detective Police Constable with the C.I.B. The charges against the officer stem from a report made on April eighteenth by a fourteen year old, who claimed that the twenty-three year old Usher was her boyfriend and that she has had with him sex multiples times. The girl was three months pregnant at the time of the report. Two other constables: twenty-five year old Gilroy Usher and twenty-six year old Elton Elijio were also arrested and charged with carnal knowledge for having sex with the same minor. As of news time tonight, the charges against the duo still stand.
