The Pallotti Campus Darling Pageant

The twenty-fifth annual Pallotti Campus Darling Pageant will be held at the Princess Hotel and Casino on Friday.  The yearly showcase of young beauty and talent has helped the high school tremendously in raising funds to improve the on-campus experience of students.  This year it is anticipated that the event will raise enough money to commence work on installing bleachers around the school’s basketball court.  According to organizer, Dorita Flowers, the pageant is the effort of the Pallotti Student Council.

Dorita Flowers, Pageant Organizer

“Whenever we have an event, it is a student council effort and whenever we have an event, we use the sum of the proceeds to help to beautify the campus so that the girls can benefit from it. And for this year’s pageant, we are going to sue some of the proceeds to begin to build the bleachers on our basketball court. For the event, anyone can come out and expect the best event that Pallotti has ever put forward because the girls are ready and excited and all the other students at our school are excited as well.”

“How many girls are participating and what forms do they range from?”

“We have presently eight girls and they range from first to third form. The fourth farmers do not participate because they have CXCs and the Miss Campus Darling will represent the school for the next school year. So it is only from first to third form.”

“In terms of some of the talent that you’ve seen, I know you are looking for certain criteria: talent, beauty, intellect and what have you. What have you seen so far in terms of these kids?”

Dorita Flowers

“Well a couple of them have surprised us with their talent and they are going to do drama, singing and all that. We are not going to give away anything, but if they come out, then they can see the whole package.”

“Where and what time?”

Dorita Flowers

“It’s in the Prince Room at the Princess Hotel, tomorrow at seven p.m.; fifteen dollars only to come in.”

Children like these will be the leaders of Belize tomorrow, so I applaud their efforts and the efforts of their teachers and parents, too. They are good examples to hold up to other children.
