Department of Civil Aviation employees injured in afternoon traffic accident
A number of traffic accidents were reported over the weekend. While various persons were lucky enough to have sustained only minor injuries, two persons perished in separate accidents. The most recent traffic accident happened this afternoon in which two men escaped grave injury when the Toyota Hilux they were traveling in was clipped by a delivery truck heading in the same direction. The near fatal traffic mishap occurred along the Phillip Goldson Highway, near Sand Hill Village shortly before two o’clock this afternoon. The impact sent the pickup careening off the highway, flipping a total of three times before coming to rest on its driver’s side on the opposite side of the road. It resulted in the hospitalization of the pair of government employees attached to the Department of Civil Aviation. The driver escaped unscathed. They had to be removed from the extensively damaged vehicle and transported to Belize City where they were treated for varying degrees of injuries.
Sad way to lose a government vehicle. That’s where tax dollars are going. No regard for safety.
At least the people were not badly injured, I assume they were wearing seatbelts for a welcome change.
Well I’m glad that they are both safe. The accident could have been much worst if they indeed had no regard for safety. However, they did! They were not travelling fast as they were between the two speed bumbs, they did slow down. It’s the truck fault, he hit them coming at high speed.
