Emil Moreno fights to keep status in cycling organization
While the chess Olympiad concluded with many winners, the dust is yet to settle in cycling. Elections for a new president of the Western Regional Association Executive Committee of the Belize Cycling Association were held on Saturday, despite an application for an injunction to bar the exercise. Former BCA president, Emil Moreno, through attorney Leo Bradley Jr., filed a court order preventing the designation of a new officer last Friday since he had already been elected to the post. Notwithstanding the eleventh-hour attempt, elections have been held and a new president appointed. According to Moreno, he remains the UCI-recognized president and that the bitter back and forth over authority of the association will be settled in court.

“The Olympic Committee along with the rural commission had elections fro the western regional association executive committee held in Belmopan. To my knowledge, I had written mister Martinez on the grounds that…he had written to us and told us that we were supposed to have a reelection of which I wrote him back and to date I hadn’t gotten a response from him as to why and the reason for having a reelection. Thereafter, I contacted the attorneys for the association who referred me to a next attorney, Mister Leo Bradley Junior, and he took up the matter and he filed an injunction on the matter to the courts. As far as I’m concerned that was where we stood. And the western regional elections that based on whatever the courts decided, we would go ahead and have that election.”

“They proceeding with the elections nonetheless in spite of an application for injunction and the results of that election are that they voted in favor of someone else for the president of the Western Regional Association of the Belize Cycling Association. What does this mean now for you going forward? Is there going to be a legal challenge as a result of procession in lieu of this injunction?”

“Yes there is. The matter will be heard and after that matter is heard then we will decide on what will be the next step.”
Too bad Belizean sports organizations are dominated by egos and love of money, instead of love of the sports, the athletes, and sportsmanship itself.
This is a simple message to Mr. Moreno.
He is behaving like a estranged spouse who doesn’t want to let go….
No one in the sport like you….
You have done nothing for the sport other than using the monies to spend on Zungu and others
and you have done nothing of consequence to take the sport forward
If i was Emil Moreno i would leave!
There is an old saying
WHERE BONES ARE NOT PROVIDED DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED!!!!!!
Move on my brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
